When we get to the Longmire area (about a 30 minute drive) we go on a nature walk followed by a longer trail to Carter Falls. To get to the latter you first have to cross the Nisqually river. And what better way to cross fast moving frigid waters than on a log cut in half with a railing bolted onto one side?
